Virtual School Visits

I love visiting schools to talk about books, but I’m also happy to visit your classroom virtually – and the good news is that I can visit anywhere in the world this way. Scroll to the bottom to watch a video trailer – and to read some great testimonials!

My online school visit package costs £100. This includes:

  • One 45 minute interactive live session via Zoom (or similar), including Q&A, live drawing and interactive storytelling, and the choice of either an owl quiz or an extra storytime with Pink Lion or King Otter
  • EXCLUSIVE access to three pre-recorded videos: a studio tour (including a peep inside my collage drawer, a look inside my ideas box and much more), plus readings by me of both books.
  • FOUR activity sheets – one art-based, and one writing-based, for each of the books.
  • I will email you the drawing I will do during the session to inspire children to write our group story afterwards – see example above, about a fox who wanted to be colourful, his friend the dog and the magic pencil that caused havoc – all invented by children!
  • I’ll also introduce my ‘Story Map’, designed to help children create their own well-paced narratives.

“The students had a fantastic time with the owl quiz, getting their questions answered, brainstorming and drawing, and hearing your new frog book! We absolutely loved getting those special links to your materials and used them in several ways in the library and in the classrooms. The teachers all loved your visit and the kids went home and told their parents all about it. In short, we loved it, and it was fantastic. Thank you again for spending your time with us.” Samantha Cortez, Librarian, Bentley Elementary, Texas

“We had a truly magical afternoon spent in Jane’s company… Jane’s warmth, friendliness and charisma captivated every single child (and adult!) from start to finish. Our children loved having the opportunity to ask Jane lots of questions and dive into the interesting world of art, creativity and illustration. The excitement of meeting a ‘real life illustrator’ continued at home time, outside on the gate with parents. I am certain that this memory will stay with our children for a very long time.”  Kathryn Leach, Headteacher, St Chad’s CofE Nursery and Infant School, Derby

“I just wanted to thank you for your time this morning and to say how much the teachers, children and I enjoyed it. It was pitched perfectly and we have lots of ideas to carry on to next week when children return to school.” Michela Evans, Trinity Primary School, Henley

“We had a wonderful opportunity meeting Jane virtually during our live author visit and workshop. Jane was lovely and engaging, the children were enthralled as they listened to stories and watched their ideas come to life on the page. This was such a worthwhile experience for our children, Jane made us believe that she was right in the room with us!”   Mrs Piper, Knightsridge Primary School, West Lothian

“The children were so excited for their virtual session with Jane. They especially loved creating the story together and Jane involved them fully in the creative process. The children were so engaged for the full session and it has helped to foster a real love of reading and creating stories.”   Alison Cassidy, St Margaret’s Primary, Cowie, Stirlingshire

“We really enjoyed the session, and the children learnt lots of interesting facts about you, your books, your inspirations and the writing process. Where you covered a range of topics, this kept the children engaged. The interactive story writing was a great aspect of the session. I love how you linked it to ‘The boy who loved everyone’. As the children had time to think of some questions prior to the session, this really helped with asking relevant and meaningful questions too.”   Kathy Cheung, Henwick Primary School, Greenwich
