For the last couple of days I have been at Ronald Ross Primary School in Southfields creating a giant blue whale with Years 4, 5 and 6. It’s been great fun and we have tried to make it as lifelike as possible, with baleen and even barnacles. The framework is made from willow.
this is fantastic! would love to learn more about its skeleton…
We made a series of hoops with the willow and masking tape of different sizes, then joined them together with straight bundles of willow, a bit like a ribcage, then just joined on the tail and fins…the mouth is also made from 2 different sized hoops, placed horizontally. We were originally making one shark and one dolphin, but when they were half made a girl said”why don’t we put them together?”, and she was so right!
that is really big!
